We were delighted to welcome Leann Castillo, Director of the National Trail Parks and Recreation District, as our 20 December, 2016 guest speaker. We learned about the success so far of the Chiller Ice Rink as well as the welcome uptick in use for the Splash Zone Water Park last summer. Leann spoke about the multiple uses for the former Snyder Park Golf Course and of new management for the Reid Park Golf Courses. She spoke of the extensive parks and recreation system encompassing a multitude of facilities and program opportunities for the residents of Clark County. This Joint Recreation District was formed when the City of Springfield Parks and Recreation Department and the Clark County Recreation Department joined as one agency.
The District manages over 1,300 acres of beautiful parks and facilities and nearly 30 miles of multi-use trails. Staff members are dedicated to providing quality parks, facilities, services, and programs for the residents of Clark County. They share the vision to create community through people, parks, and programs.
