The Exchange Club of Springfield, Ohio welcomed Officer Tom Selnar of the Springfield Police Division to its regularly scheduled Noon lunch meeting on Tuesday October 17th, 2017 on the campus of Wittenberg University.

Officer Selnar reported on the terrible effects of the Opioid crisis which for the last six years has escalated to today’s staggering number of over 600 drug related calls this year and approaching 30 overdose deaths.  Grants have been finally offered by the Federal government which should enable the force to fund a full time officer to coordinate all the details in combatting this crisis.

Officer Selnar also related that Elder Age scams are on the rise and that we should be mindful of them.
