The Exchange Club of Springfield honored Wittenberg University with the club’s coveted “Proudly We Hail Award” which honors those who fly the US Flag properly and regularly. University President Mike Frandsen accepted the award on behalf of the school at a banquet held Tuesday evening at the Benham-Pence Student Center on the campus of Wittenberg University.  Ohio-West Virginia District Exchange Clubs President Beverly Sewell presented the award.

Exchange is a national network made up of 650 clubs and some 20,000 members.  Exchange members serve their community through projects related to their three Programs of Service: Youth, Community Service, and Americanism, and their National Project; The Prevention of Child Abuse.

No symbol inspires respect and love of country more than our American flag — the Stars and Stripes. That is why Exchange encourages all Americans to properly fly the flag as an ongoing, highly visible expression of that respect through the Proudly We Hail program. Proudly We Hail honors those Americans who do display the nation’s banner properly and regularly. Recognition is in the form of a beautiful plaque specially designed for this purpose.
