The Exchange Club of Springfield, Ohio met virtually Tuesday January 12, 2021, 6 PM via Webex, with ten members and one guest “attending”. The Guest Speaker was Scout Executive Rob Lavoie, Tecumseh Council BSA. Rob related that although some changes had to be made to the normal programs due to the pandemic, innovative ways were created to still have a wonderful experience for the Scouts. He related that in the United States last year 88 Scouts earned the highest award of all, that of Eagle Scout. Most exciting is the fact that the Tecumseh Council’s Alex Arehart of Beavercreek, Ohio was awarded the 2020 Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award making him the National winner (representing the Central Region): for his design and installation of a 3D-modeled outdoor seating structure at a local STEM school. What a fantastic example of overcoming adversity! Congratulations to Alex and the entire Tecumseh Council. The club’s Foundation will send a donation of $1,000 to the Council so they may continue their good works. Club President-Elect Mark Sullivan presents a donation to Rob Lavoie. Photo from 2017.
