The Exchange Club of Springfield, Ohio met Tuesday February 22, 2022, with ten members present, as a Committee of the Whole, at 7:00 AM, in the Benham-Pence Student Center Alumni Room, to select the Youth of the Year and the A.C.E. Award winners. Youth Chair Karen Sullivan had received by e-mail a number of ballots from those members unable to attend, and Committee member Peg tallied all the votes, revealing the following results:
The club had participation from all 12 high schools this year and the essays were uniformly good. However several did stand out. The Youth of the Year for 2021-22 is Sara Peabody – Catholic Central HS. First Runner-Up is Brennan Patterson – Northeastern HS, and Second Runner-Up is Dordy Bernard – Springfield HS. First Place receives a $1,000 college scholarship, 1st Runner-up a $750 college scholarship, and 2nd Runner-up at $500 college scholarship.
The club selected Ben Roseberry from Emmanuel Christian HS as the 2021-22 Accepting the Challenge of Excellence, (A.C.E.) Award. Ben will receive a $1,000 college scholarship.
The Youths of the Year and A.C.E. Award winner will be honored at a banquet Tuesday March 15, 2022 at Wittenberg’s Shouvlin Center.
