The Exchange Club of Springfield, Ohio met on the campus of Wittenberg University on Tuesday September 12, 2023, 6 PM, at the Benham-Pence Student Center Alumni Room, with 16 members and 3 guests present. Guest Speakers were Deputy Shaun Lisle and Deputy Josh Elliott from the Clark County Sheriff DARE program. The DARE program, presented in every county school here, is much more than an illegal substance awareness project. Students in the 5th, 7th, and high school grades learn, among many other things, that making good choices lead to real self-esteem and that making poor choices lead to the loss of opportunities academically, athletically, and vocationally, that may last a lifetime. Larry Sewell, President of the Exchange Club Foundation of Springfield, Ohio, presented a Foundation donation of $1,000 to Shaun and Josh to aid them in their vital work.
The club also welcomed Chris Cook, C C Combined Health District Assistant Health Commissioner, who spoke about the Community Health Improvement Plan, and to the great need for prenatal and postnatal care in the local Haitian immigrant community.
