The Exchange Club of Springfield, Ohio dedicated a new Freedom Shrine at Tecumseh High School, New Carlisle, on Thursday January 18, 2024, 10:00 AM. The Freedom Shrine is a selection of 28 key documents of the history of the United States. Keynote Speaker was Ohio-WV District Exchange Club’s Past District President Larry Sewell who presided and quoted that, ‘..the security and destiny of every nation rest chiefly on the sound education of its people.’ Exchange Members present were Freedom Shrine Chair Alan Peczkowski, Karen Lotz, Mark Lotz, and Peg Haemmerle. Dr. Aaron Oakes, Principal of Tecumseh High School bade the assembly welcome. Freedom Shrine Committee Chair Alan Peczkowski led the Invocation, and an ROTC Instructor led the Pledge of Allegiance. The school’s Air Force JRROTC unit provided the Color Guard. Doug Free, Chair of Tecumseh High School’s Social Studies Department stated students had already enjoyed visiting the site. It was also related that the Science Department has expressed envy, wanting to know when their department would get a “cool” display related to their discipline!
