The Exchange Club of Springfield, Ohio presented its 2026 Book of Golden Deeds Award at a dinner Tuesday April 14, 2026, in honor of Benjamin Norris, of On-The-Rise.
On-The-Rise, a farm in rural Clark County, Ohio, strives to help students develop into a well-rounded citizen by teaching life skills, social skills and employable skills. With unconditional positive regard, they assist students as they work to apply these skills to their everyday lives. Together, they help students recognize the resilience within themselves and that they are capable of anything they put their mind to.
Mr. Norris’ nomination letter from On-The-Rise Director Deb McCullough stated, “Ben’s dedication is unfounded. He always is available whenever needed. From farm work to any repairs needed on the farm, and helping plan birthday parties for the kids, Ben is there. He is a teacher, helping the kids learn woodworking, power tool safety, and how to use farm equipment. For On-the-Rise, Ben is one of a kind.”
Congratulations to Ben Norris, gifting to young members of Clark County the priceless gift of his time and experience!
Volunteer efforts are very important to our society and should not go unnoticed. The National Exchange Club’s longest running project, the Book of Golden Deeds Award, recognizes dedicated volunteers who give endless hours of their time and talents toward making their communities better places to live. Ever since the Exchange Club of Huntington, Ind., sponsored the first award in 1919, thousands of unsung heroes and heroines have been recognized. The Book of Golden Deeds Award exemplifies The National Exchange Club’s beliefs.
