The Exchange Club of Springfield held its annual Christmas Party on Tuesday December 12, 2017 at the Springfield Country Club. The club also celebrated the 96th Anniversary of its Charter, December 15, 1921, with a cake. Wayne J. Smith, who joined the local club in 1974 and is therefore at 43 years the current longest serving member of the club, cut the cake.
The Exchange Club of Springfield,Ohio performs projects under the three areas of service prescribed by the National Exchange Club, and the Ohio-West Virginia District Exchange Clubs. Those areas are Americanism, Youth, Community Service, and the National Project; The Prevention of Child Abuse. The club donates approximately $40,000 each year to local organizations through its Exchange Club of Springfield Foundation. The club at present has 25 members. The Club received the National Exchange Club Award in Americanism in 2016 and in 2017 the club’s website, www.springfieldexchangeclub.org, was selected by the National Exchange Club as having the “Best Club Website”.
