The Exchange Club of Springfield met Tuesday January 30, 2018 at the Wittenberg Student Center at their regularly scheduled Noon meeting to honor the first four of twelve Youth of the Month selections from local high schools.

One of the most popular Exchange youth projects, the Youth of the Month/Year Award recognizes hard-working high school Senior students who attain high levels of scholastic achievement, community involvement and leadership. This proven program not only rewards outstanding young people, but also provides an incentive for other youngsters to strive for equally high levels of achievement. Each Exchange Club of Springfield “Youth of the Month” is awarded a $100 stipend and a framed recognition certificate.

Selection of the Youth of the Year is made from the club’s Youth of the Month recipients primarily by the submission of a an 800 – 1200 word essay on a topic selected by the National Exchange Club. The Springfield club’s Youth of the Year is awarded a $1,000 college scholarship and advances to district competition with an opportunity to earn an additional $1,000 college scholarship, and ultimately, an opportunity to vie for the prestigious National Youth of the Year Award and a $10,000 college scholarship.
