The Ohio-West Virginia District Exchange Clubs selected Springfield club member Alan Peczkowksi as the 2018 “All American Volunteer of the Year”.  Mr. Peczkowski has been a member of the Exchange Club of Springfield since 1999.  The Award recognizes a club member who has shown exemplary service to the community.  Nominee must attend at least 75% of club meetings and participate in at least 80% of club projects. Longevity will be considered.  This award will not in any way be associated with the leadership level as it is for club level volunteers.

Alan is a member of the Board of Directors and always participates, asking good questions and clarifying and focusing the board discussions.  He volunteers for nearly all projects including Kids’ Day at the Fair, Give-A-Kid-A-Flag-To-Wave, National Night Out, Community Challenge, and Salvation Army Kettle/Bell Ringing.

Alan’s signature project is the Book of Golden Deeds which he has chaired for many years.  He mails out to over 100 local churches and organizations requesting nominees for the honor, and does a great job leading his committee in selecting amazing candidates who have served our community so well.

Alan noticed several months ago that a local high school’s Freedom Shrine was badly in need of replacement.  He informed the Club and Foundation Boards of this finding and volunteered to chair the project.  He personally made all the proper contacts and then delivered the new documents when they arrived.  The re-dedication ceremony in May was very moving,  and it is likely that without his intervention that school’s Freedom Shrine would not have been replaced any time soon.

Alan is always ready to help any Exchangite or pitch in on any project.  He almost never misses a meeting whether noon or evening and always contributes to discussions by making excellent points. He always suggests logical courses of action and is willing to back up his thoughts with positive action.

Alan Peczkowski is a living representation of our Exchange Club Covenant of Service and our club is fortunate to have him as a member.
