The Exchange Club of Springfield welcomed Carlisa Parker, Director of the Clark County Child Advocacy Center at its regularly scheduled Noon Meeting on January 8, 2019.  The club assists the CAC in its campaign to help prevent child abuse in many ways.

The CAC team works to provide a collaborative and coordinated response to referrals involving children who have been victims of:

• Sexual Abuse and / Exploitation
• Felony Level Physical Abuse
• Human Trafficking
• Domestic Violence
• Witness a Violent Crime
Children of every gender, age, race, and economic status are at risk. No child is immune.
  • 1 in 4 girls will be sexually abused before turning 18
  • 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before turning 18
  • Only 1 of 10 children who are abused will tell someone. No one wants to think about it-that’s what abusers count on.
  • Teaching your child about “stranger danger” isn’t enough. Children are most often abused by someone they know.
  • 90% of child sexual abuse victims know their abuser

Family members commit 39% of the reported sexual assaults on children.
