The Exchange Club of Springfield welcomed Deputies Josh Berner and Shaun Lisle to the Tuesday February 19, 2019 Noon meeting at the Wittenberg Student Center. The Deputies accepted a donation from the Exchange Club of Springfield, Ohio Foundation Board Member Peg Haemmerle in the amount of $2,000 for the CCSD Community Services Division programs.
The county community services include the D.A.R.E. program for grades 5, 7, and 9 and reached some 2,420 students. There were approximately 1,000 5th grade students. There were some 753 D.A.R.E. classes and total classroom hours reached 967. D.A.R.E. skate parties in the spring and fall had over 1,300 participants
Safety Village had 5 sessions in 3 locations last year with a total of 130 graduates. Last year’s Exchange Foundation donation of $2,500 enabled the Team to purchase new carpeting for the Safety Village which facilitated a better experience and safer environment for students and instructors alike.
The Community Services Division Team of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department also participated in the Clark County National Night Out in Springfield, Enon, and New Carlisle reaching over 500 visitors. The Team participated with the Clark County Fair, Culture Fest, Family & Youth Initiatives Annual Safety Day, and the South Vienna Corn Festival. Clark Countians probably noted the Team at many of the local Memorial Day Parades and community outreaches.
