Jerry Lawrence was presented with the Book of Golden Deeds Award Thursday November 19, 2020, by Exchange Club of Springfield, Ohio Foundation President Larry Sewell. The presentation occurred at the St. Vincent de Paul pantry where Mr. Lawrence has volunteered for over fifteen years.
Mr. Lawrence has not only served as the President of the St. Bernard Chapter of the Society, but has organized the annual Christmas Basket Distribution Program that provides up to 1,000 baskets for families in need. He manages the database that tracks food sources and recipients ordering non-food items for distribution. He does everything from stocking shelves to taking clients to the store to purchase items needed for their employment. Mr. Lawrence is a source of sage advice and a tireless advocate of our brothers and sisters in need.
Volunteer efforts are very important to our society and should not go unnoticed. The National Exchange Club’s longest running project, the Book of Golden Deeds Award, recognizes dedicated volunteers who give endless hours of their time and talents toward making their communities better places to live. Ever since the Exchange Club of Huntington, Ind., sponsored the first award in 1919, thousands of unsung heroes and heroines have been recognized.
The Book of Golden Deeds Award exemplifies The National Exchange Club’s beliefs. Local recipients are memorialized with a copy of the Award Ceremony, including the Nomination Documents and pictures, placed in a Book of Golden Deeds binder at the Main Office of the Clark County Public Library in Springfield, Ohio.
