Four Springfield club members, President Mark and Karen Sullivan, and Larry and Bev Sewell, attended the Region 7 Summit in Findlay, Ohio this past weekend.
Region 7 of the National Exchange Club consists of the OH-WV District, Michigan District, and Indiana District. The seminar Keynote address was given by Dr. Bryan Cavins of Higher Ground Advantage. Dr. Bryan impressed upon those attending, the importance of planning in “Achieving Your Wildly Important Goals”, through Focus, Acting, Keeping Score, and Creating Accountability. The Block Stack Challenge was an interesting excercise that the some 40 attendees completed successfully in only 18 minutes, amazing! Past National President Tom Karnes, (Michigan), reminded us to”share the great gift of Exchange” with others! Immediate Past National President Russ Finney reminded us of the singular importance of good leadership in our Club and daily affairs.
There was plenty of fun and fellowship all weekend, and at the Hospitality Suite. A Cornhole Tournament was held to benefit the Veterans Matter organization with a $5 per person entry fee. Ohio swept the board winning the Ohio-WV, Michigan, and Indiana leadership contest, as OH-WV District President Cindy Cullen, (Clyde) and Immediate Past National President (West Chester), Russ Finney defeated their counterparts from both Indiana and Michigan. In the Region 7 Open, Springfield, Ohio Club President Mark Sullivan and partner Larry Sewell (Springfield) defeated all comers to win for Ohio. Finally, a match between Past National President Tom Karnes, (Michigan) and Immediate Past National President Russ Finney (Ohio) was won by Ohio’s Russ Finney. A clean sweep demonstrating Ohio’s superiority over its Indiana and Michigan comrades, at least in Cornhole! There was an auction of items and Auctioneer Jeff Young (Indiana) did a great job. The true winners were our homeless veterans as over $800 was raised to house homeless veterans through Exchange’s partnership with Veterans Matter! Special thanks to Region 7 RVP Jennifer Sweney (Michigan) and Findlay Ohio Club President John Fetters for their tireless effort to put on such a great weekend of Exchange Education, Training, and Fellowship. Unity for Service!
