Robert Lavoie, Executive Director, Tecumseh Council BSA, visited our evening meeting and gave a great presentation on the Council’s effort to “make great memories” for area Scouts. Mr. Lavoie stated that local Scouting experienced a 4.7% growth this year, arresting a slight decline since 2011. Scouting has an enormously beneficial effect on youth, according to a recent study by Tufts University. For over 100 years, Scouting has indeed helped to mold the youth of this nation and the world to be a better place.
The Boy Scouts of America is the largest Scouting organization in the United States of America and one of the largest youth organizations in the United States with more than 2.4 million youth participants and nearly one million adult volunteers. The BSA was founded in 1910 and, since then, more than 110 million Americans have been participants in BSA programs at some time.. The BSA is part of the international Scout Movement and became a founding member organization of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922.
