The Exchange Cub of Springfield Ohio met Wednesday July 24, 2024 at the Clark County Fair to present it’s 75th Kid’s Games on Youth Day. The club began the tradition in 1949 by hosting children from the Clark County Orphans Home for a day of Fair fun and Fair food. The weather was perfect for the 1 PM start of the Games at the Race Track and the membership turned out in force. In the spirit of Inter-club comradeship newly Chartered Tigers Exchange Club of Clark County members distributed Game Programs at the Fair Gates with their Springfield club counterparts. All met at the designated place for lunch prior to the games. Some Members placed the signage, rigged the canopies to shield our pates from old Sol, and lined the field. Approximately 125 ‘customers’ (boys and girls from 5 – 16) participated, and a good time was had by all. Sack races, foot races of various lengths, the old ‘egg on the spoon’ race, (NO THUMBS ON THE EGG PLEASE!), and the ever-popular egg toss, cash prizes for 1st, 2nd , and 3rd place contest winners, and don’t forget the cash prize Raffle winners! The machine ran smoothly, (I guess after 75 years it should!) After 90 minutes of non-stop action, it was time to pack up and beat the rain home. Well done, Springfield members, Mark S., Skip, Mark and Karen L, Joy, Carin, Karen H, Larry, Bev, Alan, Jill, Tim, Don, Melissa, Bonnie, and Tigers Paris, Matt, Dominick, Jason, and Stuart. Many thanks to the Sponsors of Youth Day, The Clark County Fair Board, Ameriprise Financial, and the Exchange Club of Springfield, Ohio. We might as well do it again next year, yes? Unity for Service!
