DESCRIPTION:The Exchange Club of Springfield will present to William Ray of OIC\, the Book of Golden Deeds Award at the May 14\, 2019 evening meeting of the Club\, 5:30 PM\, Wittenberg Student Center Alumni Room. \nVolunteer efforts are very important to our society and should not go unnoticed. The National Exchange Club’s longest running project\, the Book of Golden Deeds Award\, recognizes dedicated volunteers who give endless hours of their time and talents toward making their communities better places to live. Ever since the Exchange Club of Huntington\, Ind.\, sponsored the first award in 1919\, thousands of unsung heroes and heroines have been recognized.  The Book of Golden Deeds Award exemplifies The National Exchange Club’s beliefs. \nThe Exchange Club of Springfield\, Ohio\, was chartered by the National Exchange Club in December of 1921.  Since then\, the club has promoted Americanism\, Community Service\, Youth\, and the Prevention of Child Abuse through many programs\, and donated many thousands of dollars to support those organizations and institutions that forward the mission of Exchange.  \nWilliam Ray \nWilliam (Bill) Ray has provided leadership and guidance for over a 25 year history with Opportunities for Individual Change (OIC).  Under his leadership\, OIC became the Community Action Agency for Clark County.  Bill has made arrangements to work around his personal vacations and made special accommodations to be present at OIC’s Board meetings providing leadership for the organization’s Learning Opportunities Center (Alternative High School)\, which serves at risk or already dropped out of school.  While these kids are not part of sports teams\, band or clubs\, Bill ensures that these students are part of “family” with goals that are within reach.  His guidance provides extremely helpful insight for our Energy Assistance Program which helps keep the utilities on for low income elderly and families with small children.  His time\, effort and expertise is an integral part in OIC’s program assisting men and women\, recently released from incarceration\, quickly move into services to assist in their reintegration into the community as productive citizens. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Exchange Club of Springfield will present the Proudly We Hail Award to Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers of South Vienna and Jackson Lytle Lewis Life Celebration Center of Springfield at the Noon meeting Tuesday April 16\, 2019 at the Wittenberg Student Center. \nNo symbol inspires respect and love of country more than our American flag — the Stars and Stripes. That is why Exchange encourages all Americans to properly fly the flag as an ongoing\, highly visible expression of that respect through the Proudly We Hail program. Proudly We Hail honors those Americans who display the nation’s banner properly and regularly. Recognition is in the form of a beautiful plaque specially designed for this purpose. \nExchange is a national network made up of some 700 clubs and 20\,000 members.  Exchange members serve their community through projects related to our four Programs of Service: Youth\, Community Service\, Americanism\, and the National Project; The Prevention of Child Abuse

SUMMARY:Rediscovering the Beauty Within Breakfast with Sasha Joseph Neulinger
DESCRIPTION:The Exchange Club of Springfield\, Ohio\, in conjunction with the CC Child Advocacy Center and the CC Dept. of Job and Family Services present – Sasha Joseph Neulinger–  Providing Hope and Inspiration for the Survivors of Sexual Abuse and the Organizations\, Centers\, and Agencies that work to serve them. \nAt just four years old\, Sasha endured abuse from three separate family members over a four year period.  He lived a life framed by film\, his father a filmmaker\, and Sasha an actor from a young age.  It was also through film\, watching home video\, that he began to heal from the trauma of his past.  As Sasha watched himself as a child\, in proximity to his abusers\, he saw his own innocence and helplessness with terrible clarity. Seeing those unsettling video clips gifted Sasha some validation\, a reminder that he had nothing to do with what his abusers chose to do with him—but that he had everything to do with the strength and resilience it required to stand up in public and prosecute them for their crimes. \nSasha Joseph Neulinger shares his autobiographical story about surviving multigenerational child sexual abuse.  His presentation covers the abuse\, family dynamics\, childhood therapy\, the prosecution process\, and how he got to where he currently is today. Now a filmmaker himself\, Sasha recently completed his first feature length documentary\, “Rewind\,” which is an autobiographical film about his life surviving multigenerational child sexual abuse.
